Who publishes this guide, how it is funded, and how corrections work

This guide is published independently for Ghanaian readers learning forex, and it is paid for by advertising and by partner links to one broker.

This guide is written for people in Ghana who are still learning how forex works

This page explains who is behind the guide, how it pays for itself, and what you can do if something here is wrong. It is written for readers in Ghana who are early in their learning, so it explains terms rather than assuming them.

The guide is published by an independent editorial team. It is not a broker, it does not hold client funds, and it does not open accounts for anyone. Its job is to explain how foreign exchange works, how the Ghanaian market context differs from other markets, and where you can verify facts for yourself.

Because readers are new to the subject, the writing favours plain explanations over jargon. Where a number matters, such as a fee or a deposit limit, the guide tells you where to check it rather than quoting a figure that may already be out of date.

A figure with no source and no date is a guess with good manners. Anything we could not trace is left out rather than printed from memory.

Advertising pays for the guide, and advertisers do not get to write it

The guide is funded by advertising and commercial partnerships. That money covers writing, research and hosting. It does not buy influence over what the pages say.

Advertisers and partners do not see articles before publication and cannot request changes to them. If a page mentions a company, that mention is either factual or clearly separated as advertising.

This matters in forex because many websites in this space are paid by brokers for each new account. This one is too: partner links here earn a commission when a reader opens an account through them. What follows from that is a rule rather than a denial — no firm is recommended to any particular reader, no broker is called licensed, safe or best, and the register is the only thing on the page that decides who may hold your money.

Brokers usually also ask for proof of address; requirements differ per firm. The account-opening page of the broker lists what that firm accepts.

Corrections are welcome, and here is how they are handled

If you find something inaccurate, contact the editorial team with the page address and the specific sentence you believe is wrong. A short note is enough. You do not need to be polite about it, though it helps if you say what you expected to see instead.

Corrections that change the meaning of a page are made directly to that page. Where the change is significant, the page notes that it was updated. Small typing fixes are made quietly.

If a claim cannot be verified, it is removed rather than softened. That rule applies to everything, including anything favourable to a company. The guide would rather say less than say something it cannot stand behind.

You can check the important facts yourself, starting with SEC Ghana

The most useful habit in forex is verifying claims at the source. For anything involving licensing in Ghana, the source is the Securities and Exchange Commission of Ghana. Its public list of licensed operators is the SEC Ghana licensed operators list at sec.gov.gh.

That list is worth reading closely. It covers 17 categories of licensed operator, and an online or leveraged foreign-exchange broker is not one of them. A firm offering that service to Ghanaian residents is therefore working under a licence issued somewhere else, which is a different thing from being licensed here.

For anything involving money movement, check the provider directly. MTN Mobile Money is the main payment rail in Ghana, with Telecel Cash, AirtelTigo Money, bank transfer and card also used. Fees and limits live in the MTN Mobile Money app or on the broker's own funding page, so check there rather than trusting a summary.

Timing is also worth checking rather than memorising. Ghana runs on GMT, UTC+0, so session hours are already in local time: Sydney 21:00 to 06:00, Tokyo 00:00 to 09:00, London 08:00 to 17:00, and New York 12:00 to 21:00. The London and New York overlap runs 12:00 to 17:00 GMT, which is the busiest stretch of the Ghanaian day.

A register says whether a firm holds a licence on the day you look, and nothing about how it treats clients. Search the legal entity from the broker's own footer, not the brand.

The SEC Ghana list tells you who is licensed, not who is suitable for you

A firm appearing on the SEC Ghana licensed operators list at sec.gov.gh has met the regulator's licensing requirements. That is a statement about the firm's legal status in Ghana. It says nothing about whether its platform, pricing or customer service will suit a beginner, and it is not an endorsement.

Beginners often read the list the wrong way round. They start by choosing a broker they have heard of, then look for it on the list to feel reassured. The safer order is to open the list first, read which firms are on it, and only then compare those firms on other grounds.

The list changes. Firms are added, and firms leave it. If you checked a name months ago, check again before you act on it, and read the entry itself rather than a screenshot someone posted. The published list is the only version worth relying on.

A platform is software, not a safeguard: the same terminal is offered by licensed and unlicensed firms alike. The licence question is answered on the register, not in the app store.

Funding an account in Ghana usually runs through mobile money, so keep the record

Most people reading this will move money with MTN Mobile Money. Telecel Cash, AirtelTigo Money, bank transfer and card are also used. The rail matters because it decides what proof of payment you hold if something goes wrong later, and mobile money receipts are easy to lose.

Before sending anything, confirm the funding details inside the broker's own account area, not from a message, a social media post or a friend's screenshot. Deposit instructions change, and a wrong number sends money somewhere it cannot be recalled. The broker's funding page and the MTN Mobile Money app are where the current details live.

Keep the confirmation message from each transfer. If a deposit does not appear in your trading account, that message is what you take to the broker, and then to the payment provider if the broker does not resolve it. Without it, you are describing a payment you cannot evidence.

Limits and fees are set by the provider and the broker and change without notice, so they are not printed here. Confirm both in the provider's app and on the broker's funding page, and withdraw to the same account you paid from.

A licence does not cover the money you have already sent

This is the distinction readers get wrong most often. Licensing is about how a firm is permitted to operate in Ghana. It is not insurance for your deposit, and it does not promise your money back if the firm fails or if you lose it trading.

So the practical question is not only whether a firm is licensed. It is also how much you are willing to have outside your own control at any one time. That is a decision you make before funding, not after a problem appears, because by then the money has already moved.

If a firm is not on the SEC Ghana list, treat any claim that it is regulated as unresolved. Do not accept a licence number quoted in an advert or a chat message as proof. Look the firm up yourself at sec.gov.gh and see what the regulator actually publishes.

What should slow you down

A fixed monthly return, promised in advance
Ask which licence permits it, then look the firm up on the SEC Ghana licensed operators list.
A deposit asked for in gift cards or vouchers
Check the broker's own funding page: firms list bank, card and wallet rails, not vouchers.
Someone offering to trade the account for you
Managing money for a client is a separate permission. The register says whether a firm holds it.
A withdrawal released only after a new payment
Read the withdrawal terms you agreed to. A fee invented at payout time is not in them.

None of this is a judgement about any firm. Each line is a check you can run yourself, starting at sec.gov.gh.

Corrections take longer when the page does not say what is wrong

A useful correction report names the page and quotes the sentence you believe is wrong. It then says what you think is correct and where that is published, ideally a regulator page or the firm's own documentation. Reports like this can be checked and acted on quickly.

Reports that say a page is misleading, without pointing to the sentence, usually stall. The desk has to guess which claim is in dispute, and a guess is not a basis for changing published text. Being specific is the fastest route to a fix.

If the error is about a fact that changes, such as which firms appear on the SEC Ghana list, include the date you checked. A page can be correct when written and out of date later. Knowing when you looked tells the desk whether the text was wrong or has simply aged.

Does this guide earn money if I sign up with a broker?

Yes. Some outbound broker links are partner links, and if you open an account through one, this site is paid a commission. It costs you nothing extra and changes nothing on the page: the advertising and the partner links are labelled, advertisers do not review articles before publication, and no payment can put a firm on the regulator's register or take it off.

How do I report a mistake on a page?

Send the page address and the exact sentence you think is wrong to the editorial team. Corrections that change the meaning of a page are made on that page, and significant updates are noted. Claims that cannot be verified are removed rather than reworded.

Where should I check whether a forex firm is licensed in Ghana?

Check the SEC Ghana licensed operators list at sec.gov.gh. That register lists 17 categories of licensed operator, and an online or leveraged foreign-exchange broker is not among them. A firm offering that service to Ghanaian residents is therefore operating under a licence issued elsewhere, so treat the register as your starting point and read it carefully.

Trading forex and CFDs on margin carries a high risk of losing more than you deposit. Most retail accounts lose money. Nothing on this page is financial advice.
